Kingdom Living.

“It is when we notice the dirt that God is most present in us; it is the very sign of His presence.”
― C.S. Lewis

Part of life in the here and now is our desire to bring as much of heaven to the earth as is possible in this life. Isn’t this why Jesus taught his disciples to pray, “Your kingdom come, you will be done; on earth, as it is in heaven”? This is kingdom living.

Since heaven is the abode of God‘s presence, part of bringing heaven to earth is the desire to live continually in the presence of God in the here and now. We seek to live in his presence every moment of every day in the here and now. We seek to be present with God, and for God to be present with us. We see this as union with God. St. Teresa of Avila speaks of this as being wedded to Jesus. Some call this mysticism. Perhaps we can think of it as living in Jesus, as kingdom living. This “in Jesus” life is the way of every day discipleship.
